New Pierce in Minooka

The Minooka Fire Protection District in MABAS Division 15 has taken delivery of a new engine from Pierce. No specs are available to us yet other than an Arrow XT chassis, but Martin Nowak spotted this on the Pierce Flickr site. It carries Pierce job number 24634.

New area Pierce aerials

As mentioned in previous posts HERE and HERE, the Homewood Fire Department and the Hillside Fire Department both received new rear mount aerials from Pierce. Ryan Wyckoff was kind enough to submit photos of both from his visit to Pierce last month. As of Monday, Pierce has posted the following images along with many others on the Pierce Flickr site.

New Pierce Tower for Lisle-Woodridge

Truck 537 for the Lisle Woodridge FPD will replace a 2004 tower ladder. Pierce photo from Flickr

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District in MABAS Division 16 has taken delivery of a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT 100′ rear mount tower ladder. Truck 537, which will be assigned to Station 3, is not yet in service. The new truck has a 2,000-GPM pump and carries 300 gallons of water.

Unlike the new tower ladder, the current unit assigned to Truck 537 carries no water and does not have a pump.

Thanks to Josh Boyajian for spotting the new delivery photo on the Pierce Flickr site.

Pierce launches redesigned site

Pierce Manufacturing went live overnight with a new ‘high-tech’ looking website which is worth browsing. Totally new graphics, layouts, navigation, and offerings include plant tours, customer videos of the design process and the integration of their Flickr site as the gallery for new deliveries. This section comes with a standardized set of search criteria for the new deliveries including year, state, type of vehicle, and model type. A downside is that all of the deliveries that were posted before the introduction of the Flickr site are not accessible. Check it out HERE and hopefully all of the pages are in working order, as the initial upload was not complete.

There also appears to be a spanish version of the site as was evident at 2AM when half of the link headings were in english and the others were in spanish. There is a large emphasis on incorporating social media with Facebook, Flickr, and YouTube links.  Pierce has made manuals available under the ‘Service’ link as downloads and there are plenty of videos to watch covering stories and features about their products. It is quite extensive and cutting edge for the industry.

New engines for Glenview

Pierce has delivery photos of two new engines for Glenview which were posted yesterday on the Pierce Flickr site. One is lettered for Engine 6 and the other for Engine 7. Both of these companies currently have 2006 Pierce Enforcer engines with standard pumper bodies. The new units are Pierce Arrow XT engines with rescue/pumper body configurations similar to Engine 8 which was built in 2009.

In a previous posting HERE, we had mentioned receiving information that one of the new engines would have a standard pumper body while the second would have a rescue/pumper body and live on the east side of town to run extrications similar to Engine 8. This other rescue/pumper was also to be the haz mat engine with the additional storage space while Engine 8 is the technical rescue engine. Since both new engines are the larger style, we’ll have to wait and see what information can be learned about the manner in which Glenview will outfit and deploy these two new units.
