Working fire in Chicago, 3-11-17

This from Steve Redick:

48 W Garfield Blvd, Saturday (3/11/17). Looks like squad 5 has a length or 2 of 1 3/4 strapped to the front bumper to use off an engine or divider … cool!

Working fire in Niles, 3-10-17

This from Steve Redick:

This was an auto inside a detail shop  at 8821 N. Milwaukee Avenue in Niles … not much to see firewise but a few decent rig shots. Both of Niles’ new pumpers as well as their newer tower and Morton Grove’s newest engine

As seen around … Merrionette Park

This from Mike Summa:

Found this on Merrionette Park’s facebook.  It is a few years old.  The caption read, “A big thank you to Evergreen Park.”  Their engine was down for repairs and Evergreen let them use one of theirs.  It is good to see the brotherhood that firefighters have for their fellow firefighters.

As seen around … Elgin

This from Mike Maida:

On Tuesday morning, I happened to see the Elgin Fire Department setting up for what appeared to be a dive rescue drill at the lake behind Sherman Hospital.  Photos included show the 2015 E-One, Engine 5, Engine 3, a Seagrave, and Medic 1.  Engine 5 has a bell on it that came from their previous rig, a 2001 KME.

Enjoy!

Chicago orders new squads (more)

This from Jacob Metzler:

Went up to O’Hare last night, caught the new 7/7A with the fading sunlight. As far as I know, the order at Engine 9 is unchanged: Squad 7/7A, Command Van 273, MVU 9-2-4, Engine 9 and Medic 59.

As seen around …. Concord, NC

This from Jeff Harkey:

Hey guys,

Thought you might want to run these pics of this Smeal/LTI/Spartan 55’ Snorkel demo.  The unit appeared this week at the North Carolina Fire Chief’s Association Mid-Winter Conference in Concord, NC.

According to the Smeal dealer, this is the fourth unit produced so far, and carries #nn0004. The Frankfort unit was the first, and two additional rigs have been produced.

The dealer also mentioned that the Memphis, TN Fire Department will be receiving a future 55’ unit.

Sorry, but no info on what departments received units 002 or 003.

Take care,

Jeff
