Des Plaines’ new/used tower ladder

This from Josh Boyajian:

Here is a shot I took of Des Plaines Tower 83. It is the x- Lake Zurich tower that was repainted to match Des Plaines color scheme. It is a 2000 Pierce Dash 100′ tower ladder.

Lombard Special Alarm 3-25-13

This from Steve Redick:

This is a place I very seldom get out to … I was halfway close so I took a ride. They were planning for something big I guess, but it was over when I arrived. I suspect some kind of machinery fire. I did manage to get some decent rig shots, and I experimented with a little fill flash too. I have never really seen the 2-piece Carol Stream Squad … kinda neat. The shots of the Lombard engine hooked up to the hydrant will make a good entry in my Suburban Rigs at Work Volume 2 someday …

North Aurora is added to the site

North Aurora Fire Protection District Station 1

North Aurora Station 1 houses both medic units, two engines, a tower ladder and the chief officers. Bill Friedrich photo

The North Aurora Fire Protection District in MABAS Division 13 (Kane County) has two stations. One station (#2) has only two engines; a front line and a reserve. The main station has both of the department’s ambulances, the battalion chief, two engines, and a tower ladder.  In addition, they have a second building on the grounds which houses the special teams including several TRT units and a boat. The fire suppression apparatus was mostly purchased from Pierce with a 1986 Arrow engine, a 1996 Lance, a 2006 Dash, and a 2001 Dash tower ladder. The frontline engine out of Station 2 is an E-ONE.

Images were supplied by Bill Friedich and Larry Shapiro.

The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District in MABAS Division 16 has taken delivery of a 2011 Pierce Arrow XT 100′ rear mount tower ladder. Truck 537, which will be assigned to Station 3, is not yet in service. The new truck has a 2,000-GPM pump and carries 300 gallons of water.

Unlike the new tower ladder, the current unit assigned to Truck 537 carries no water and does not have a pump.

Thanks to Josh Boyajian for spotting the new delivery photo on the Pierce Flickr site.
