Historic fire: Goldblatt’s fire in Mt Prospect, 1977 (more)

More photos from the Historic fire: Goldblatt’s fire in Mt Prospect, 1977 (pt1)

Hi,

I just found your blog as I was searching for old photos of the Goldblatts fire. I grew up in Des Plaines in the Craig Manor subdivision at the corner of Wolf & Central Roads. We could see the fire from our house and quickly drove over there. I was 14 at the time and had a cheap old camera and took these photos myself. You may share them anywhere.

Chicago working fire 1-21-14

This from Josh Boyajian:

1-21-14 – Companies were dispatched to a working fire in the 6500 blk of south Green. I was sitting at 47th and Halsted when this came in. As soon as they dispatched the companies, you could see the header. Engine 47 arrived and lead out a line to the second floor. Truck Co. 18 had the main to the roof and cut a few holes. Fire was knocked pretty quick. Here are my pictures.

Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire 7-24-13

This from Eric Haak:

At approximately 4:40 on Wednesday afternoon, fire broke out in a large “s” shaped courtyard apartment building at the corner of Lunt and Bell.  It was boxed shortly after arrival and eventually was raised to a 2-11 alarm.  Engine 102 was first on the scene and reported fire on 2.  They are shown below getting ready to feed the Tower.  Truck 25 had their aerial up in sector one and Tower Ladder 21 was set up on the corner of Lunt and Bell.  The back porches were involved but were not visible due to the shape of the building.  By the time I got there at 5:15, most of the fire was on the top floor and the roof which was difficult to see due to the large trees that line the block.  Rehab Unit 572 was set up on Bell and is seen below.

Chicago working fire 6-23-13

This from Steve Redick:

Made it to this job at Lake & Homan yesterday … I arrived pretty early in the job (ahead of the squad). 1-story row of what looked like mostly vacant commercial occupancies, but the motocycle club looks like it may have been in use. From my vantage point it looked like the fire was in the cockloft over more than one occupancy. Lots of venting on the roof, and some forcible entry in the rear. Note the sign on the door of the motorcycle joint. Also shot a little video too … this was a done deal in very short order.
