5-11 Alarm fire and Haz Mat Level 1 in Chicago, 4-2-19 (more)

This from Chi-Town Fire Photos:

We took in the extra alarm fire early this week on the westside of Chicago. It was a food manufacturing warehouse and the first-in companies encountered heavy fire on their arrival. A lot of in-line pumping operations took place at this job which required many resources, which at the peak of the fire, made it to a 5-11 and 4 Specials. Twenty two engines, ten trucks including four tower ladders, Squad 2, plus a plethora of special equipment responded to this. We got to this about an hour into the fire.

Box alarm fire in Libertyville, 3-31-19

Libertyville firefighters were dispatched for a reported fire at 232 Red Top Drive Sunday afternoon (3/31/19). Firefighters arrived quickly from the nearby station on Golf Road and reported fire through the roof. Shortly afterwards the fire was upgraded to a Box Alarm as firefighters went defensive. Flames were knocked down fairly quickly after burning off a section of the roof and damaging the second floor of one unit in the multi-family complex.

An incomplete list of fire departments at the scene included: Libertyville, Mundelein, Countryside, Lake Bluff, Gurnee, lake Forest, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Round Lake, and Grayslake.

Commercial fire in Des Plaines, 12-31-18 (more)

This from Steve Knogl:

I was at the wonton fire in des plaines on New Years eve.

There were ambulances from Rosemont, Elk Grove Township, and 2 from Des Plaines. Three ladder trucks (des plaines 61 and 63, and prospect heights).  Only 63 deployed their ladder.  Elk Grove Township sent a pumperI think.  Des Plaines had pumpers 61 and 63.  Des Plaines and Mt Prospect sent a battalion chief.

Wind blew the initial smoke south into the intersection of oakton and elmhurst road.  very dense, couldnt see thru it.  By the time the fire department showed up, the smoke was starting to dissipate at the intersection.  I was just exiting I-90 at elmhurst road heading north when the fire began.

Squad cars from Des Plaines, Rosemont, and Mt Prospect were there but took a while to show up and block off traffic.  I think there were over 10 police cars eventually showed up.

Keep up the good work!

Working fire in Chicago, 6-9-17

This from Drew Gresik:

The 18th Battalion battled a working fire in a red-X building at 3849 on Flournoy. Chicago Police helicopter ‘PH1’ called it in on the Zone and reported that there was a house on fire and it was really cooking. Engine 95 deck-gunned it on arrival as they had heavy fire showing from the 2, and then companies led out (2) 2.5” lines while performing an exterior attack. A third line was led out as Squad 1’s Snorkel was set up and flowing water in the vacant lot on Side D.
