CFD apparatus updated on the site

Several images of Chicago Fire Department apparatus have been updated or added to the site recently:

  • Ambulance 33 has been added to Engine 107‘s house

CFD site updates

There are many CFD photos waiting to be updated on the site, and as time permits they will all find their place. Several images have been updated now:

  • Dan McInerney submitted a new image of Engine 29‘s house
  • Bill Freidrich updated the photo of High-Rise unit 6-4-16 at Engine 18’s house which was discussed in several earlier comments

Chicago Engine 2

From atop a downtown high-rise, Dan McInerney submitted an interesting image showing Engine 2, the new fire boat, docked outside the marine headquarters. Behind Engine 2, Engine 58 is visible as is a small Coast Guard vessle leaving to go on patrol.

CFD Engine 109’s new house construction update

Dan McInerney visited the construction site this week for Engine 109’s new house and submitted several images documenting the progress.

Oak Park house fire 2-16-11

The Oak Park Fire Department with River Forest Engine 222 responded to a reported house fire around 12:30PM yesterday at 1048 N. Elmwood.  While enroute, OPPD advised units that officers on the scene arrived to find smoke showing from the second floor and that an invalid in a wheelchair was on the first floor.

Upstairs they encountered a moderate smoke condiditon and fire in a second floor bedroom. The fire was extinguished and the house ventilated. All OPFD units responded and worked, River Forest E222 stood by as RIT.

CFD units on-scene with burn victim

Dan McInerney submitted these rig shots from an incident at 4404  W. Roosevelt. The facility is some type of recycling center. Engine 38 went for an ambulance assist and found they had a burn victim, which required the response of a battalion chief (Bn13).  The Office of Fire Investigation (OFI) followed-up with the patient at the hospital.
