In MABAS Division 19, the four stations of the New Lenox Fire Protection District have been added to the site. New Lenox has a combination of career and contract personnel that staff four ambulances, four engines, and a truck. The ambulances are a mixture of Horton and Medtec. The engines are from Pierce and Sutphen, and the truck is a Pierce.

Engine 1631, a 2009 Sutphen Shield Series, was mentioned in a previous post because it was a Sutphen demo unit that spent time at the Joliet Speedway before being purchased by New Lenox.

A few other interesting pieces of apparatus at New Lenox Station 1 include a 1993 Oshkosh TA-3000 ARFF (X-Navy) which is available through MABAS as a tanker or as a foam tender for over-the-road tankers and industrial fires.

Norwood Park Fire Protection District station

In Division 20, the Norwood Park Fire Protection District has been added to the site. Norwood Park operates out of one station on Lawrence Avenue in Harwood Heights. Their fire district covers Harwood Heights, Norridge, and Norwood Park Township which is unincorporated Cook County. They have a large station with three Medtec ambulances, two Pierce engines, a Pierce tower ladder, a command car, utility pickup, and the MABAS Division 20 Haz Mat Unit #749.

The department is expecting delivery of a new Pierce Impel engine in April and will be selling what is currently Engine 101, a 1996 Pierce Saber engine.

Bolingbrook Fire Department patch

The Bolingbrook Fire Department in MABAS Division 16, has been added to the site. Bolingbrook runs out of five stations. Each station has a suppression company and all but Station 5 run a medic unit. The suppression company at Station 1 is a jump company utilizing either the engine or the truck depending on the nature of the dispatch. As mentioned previously, a new engine is on order for Station 5, and a new medic unit will be in service before the year ends.

The suppression apparatus are a mixture of Precision Fire Apparatus (out of Camdenton, MO), Ferrara, Grumman, and Seagrave. Medic units were build by Road Rescue, Wheeled Coach, Life Line, and Osage.

Missing from the images posted on the site are a 1992 Seagrave reserve engine at Station 4, and two large trailers. One at Station 4 carries a Gator AWD unit, and one at Station 5 houses the technical rescue equipment.

The medic unit running out of Station 1 was formerly owned by Air Angels, Inc. which went out of business in February of 2009. Air Angels operated ground medical transport and helicopter transport. In 2008, an Air Angels helicopter crashed.

The Fox Lake Fire Department and Fire Protection District in Lake County has been added to the site. They have four stations although Station1, their original station, is unmanned. Their staffing is a combination of career, contract, and paid-on-call personnel.

As their namesake suggests, their district has quite a few lakes, and as such they have five boats housed in their stations. The apparatus is all by Alexis Fire Equipment and built on chassis by Spartan, with two exceptions. Tanker 2262 was built by E-ONE on a chassis by Federal Motors with a Hurricane cab, and reserve Engine 2223 was built by FMC on the first of three Super Command Cab chassis by Spartan featuring the original square design.

Antioch Rescue Squad added to the site

The Antioch Rescue Squad was formed in 1940 as a volunteer group to provide emergency medical services within Antioch Township and the Village of Antioch. Today, they service 34 square miles with 56 volunteers and four Road Rescue ambulances. Their quarters are in a separate section of the Antioch Fire Department headquarters building at 835 Holbek Drive.

Antioch Fire is added to the site

The Antioch Fire Department and First Fire District is a volunteer department at the northern edge of Illinois in Lake County Quad 2. They have three stations with many pieces of apparatus and a new engine expected in January. Once an all Pirsch department, they still have two Pirsch units on the roster, one of which will be put up for auction when the new engine arrives. Each station houses a brush rig and an engine or tanker with at least 2,000 gallons of water.

Today the apparatus consists of US Tanker, Alexis, Pierce, and 3D. Station 1 houses the Quad 2 rehab unit, the Quad 2 air boat, and a new Quad 2 resource dubbed the Fast Attack Response Truck.

Berwyn has been added to the site

The Berwyn Fire Department in MABAS Division 11 has been added to the site through the efforts of several individuals. Photos have been assembled from Drew Gresik, Steve Redick, Hank Sajovic, and Larry Shapiro to fill in the stations and apparatus. Berwyn, a career department with 79 personnel runs out of three stations covering just under four square miles. They have a mixture of apparatus including three pieces from Seagrave plus an engine from Pierce and their newest engine from Crimson.

Glenside added to the site

The Glenside Fire Protection District in Glendale Heights has been added to the site. Glenside is in MABAS Division 12 and runs out of a single station at the corner of Fullerton Avenue and Bloomingdale Road. The station was originally built in 1970 and underwent an extensive renovation which ended in 2004. They have two Medtec ambulances, a new 2010 Ferrara Inferno engine, two E-ONE HP75 quints, and a Pierce engine. Glenside also houses one of three MABAS Division 12 Haz Mat trailers.

The majority of Glenside apparatus is presently painted black over red. Prior to adding the black roofs, apparatus was white over red beginning in 1996. During the early years of the department, the apparatus was a bright yellow that was also reflected in their patch.

The Roselle Fire Department in MABAS Division 12 has been added to the site. Roselle runs out of one station packed full of apparatus, most of which was built by E-ONE. They have two engines, a tower ladder, and a wetside tanker in addition to a Darley heavy rescue, two medic units, and a 1927 Pirsch which has been restored for parade use.

This is a combination department with 13 full-time personnel, 33 part-time, and six contract medics. They cover the town of Roselle as well as unincorporated areas of Roselle, Itasca, Medinah, and Schaumburg. Some of their district is in Cook County although the majority is located in Dupage County.

Bloomingdale Fire Protection District No. 1 headquarters fire station 1

The Bloomingdale Fire Protection District No 1 in MABAS Division 12 has been added to the site. Bloomingdale has three stations though one is strictly used for storage. Station 2 at 6N480 Keeney Road (which has a Roselle address) was originally part of the Keeneyville Fire District. This station has two spare engines and an out-of-service ambulance which may be converted to a dive unit.

Bloomingdale has their own dispatch center in the basement of Station 1 which serves Bloomingdale in addition to the Elk Grove Township Fire Protection District and theItasca Fire Protection District.

Bloomingdale runs a fleet of Pierce apparatus which includes a tower ladder and three engines on a Lance chassis, one engine on an Enforcer chassis, and an engine on a Quantum chassis. They have on order a 2,000-gallon pumper/tanker on a Velocity chassis which is due this year. The two in-service ambulances as well as the Dive Squad all feature boxes built by Horton.

Prior to becoming a Pierce customer, Bloomingdale was exclusively a Pirsch customer for many years. In 1981, they received the last engine on a custom Pirsch chassis that matched two engines and a 1972 85′ mid-ship quint.
