Ferrara recall
Oct 26
Ferrara is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 units with Inferno and Igniter chassis that are equipped with Meritor Wabco Electronic Stability Control (ESC) that were manufactured from April 2009 through October 2011. The ESC module may cause the ESC system to activate unnecessarily when the vehicle is driven in a particular manner on certain unique road conditions and may adversely affect the slip angle calculation by the ESC module.
Complete details can be found HERE and HERE. from the NHTSA. (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID Number: 11V507000)
Glenside added to the site
Aug 10
The Glenside Fire Protection District in Glendale Heights has been added to the site. Glenside is in MABAS Division 12 and runs out of a single station at the corner of Fullerton Avenue and Bloomingdale Road. The station was originally built in 1970 and underwent an extensive renovation which ended in 2004. They have two Medtec ambulances, a new 2010 Ferrara Inferno engine, two E-ONE HP75 quints, and a Pierce engine. Glenside also houses one of three MABAS Division 12 Haz Mat trailers.
The majority of Glenside apparatus is presently painted black over red. Prior to adding the black roofs, apparatus was white over red beginning in 1996. During the early years of the department, the apparatus was a bright yellow that was also reflected in their patch.
Additional photos have been added to the Algonquin-Lake In The Hills Fire District pages to include the units from Stations 2 and 3. There is a photo of a pickup truck which is listed as a brush truck. The department has a skid-mount unit on order to slide into the ed of the pickup, but it was not completed when the photo was taken.
The Algonquin-Lake In The Hills Fire Protection District is in both MABAS Division 2 and MABAS Division 5. The district operates out of three stations with the headquarters residing in Lake In The Hills on Algonquin Road. They recently took delivery of two units from Ferrara; an MVP pumper on the Igniter chassis, and a rear-mount tower ladder on an Inferno chassis. They also have two new ambulances by Medtec on Freightliner M2106 Business Class chassis. The other two frontline engines are a pair of twin KME Predator rescue pumpers. The listings are not yet complete, but the balance of the images should be posting soon.
