Last year, Grant Park FPD (MABAS Division 7) started running this former Beecher FPD 1996 Pierce Saber 1250/750 (Engine 404).

Engine Co. 110 replaces the 1982 Ford C8000/E-ONE 1000/1000.

5300blk of South Shields, 8/24/13, Still time 0615 hours. 84 reported smoke showing facing northbound on a story and a half frame. Fire was reported in the walls and traveling into the attic. 1 line , roof was opened, fire was undercontrol & out by the time I got there.

Larry Shapiro stopped by the Linclonshire-Riverwoods FPD to get photos of the new unit for Engine 52 which was scheduled to be put into service on Friday (8-2-13).

Schiller Park FD - 10511 W United Parkway
Driving north on I-294 and saw a header & heard traffic on fireground that indicated a fire in/on the roof. Bldg at 10511W United Pkwy is a 1sty non combustible 350x150. Looked like it was going to become an extra alarm fire from the tollway, but by the time I made my way there (10 minutes), it was out, companies had made a great knock and contained the fire to a rooftop HVAC unit with some extension to the roof deck. In addition to Schiller Park Eng 5, TL 5, Amb 5 & BN 5; Franklin Park Trk 2, Leyden Qnt 133, Norwood Park Eng 101 & Franklin Park BN 490. Awesome job by the crews working; especially considering the heat.

Riverside Box Alarm 6-20-13

Here are a couple of photos from Riverside’s Box Alarm at 73 Northgate Road. Fire was in the basement upon arrival, with heavy smoke pushing from the chimney. Command had Engine 1621 lead a line into the home to knock the fire while Truck 1629 had the roof for ventilation. Fire was knocked in about 20 minutes. No shots of flames at this fire, but some cool shots of the smoke patterns before crews made entry. Attached are photos of several rigs and the structure. Forest View is currently using the Darien-Woodridge reserve engine that says “Southwest United Fire Districts” since both of their rigs are out of service with water damage to the electrical systems after that record flood a month or so ago. LaGrange has re-numbered their old Pierce and still runs it on M/A calls.

Hey guys,

I was cruising around today and passed by Engine 80’s quarters at 127th and S Doty. Truck 62 has a spare, which happens to be the Seagrave used on “Chicago Fire.” It’s still marked “Truck 81”. Thought I would share it with everyone since its not an everyday sight. I also passed by Crestwood’s quarters and saw that they have a new (or relatively new) Ford Expedition B/C SUV. Just took a quick shot of it in its bay. Thanks!
