This was leased from Pierce, and it came down to purchasing this one or buying new.

I think it’s a money and budget issue. If it doesn’t get used and they already have access to a reserve engine, most suburban dept’s do get rid of low millage older rig’s just sitting around. A lot of dept’s are doing it nation wide. Gone are the day’s of going into a suburban dept ‘ ( such as the nw dept I worked for before I went to the city)” that had three engines, a truck, and all kinds of other toys lying around and seldom used. Between mantaintence and insurance it cost’s a lot to keep stuff around that is seldom used. Just back then the more was more now less is more.

It does seem pretty odd that they are getting rid of that piece of equipment when they have a few pieces that are alot older.

That’s quite a light tower on that thing. It would be cool to see someone around here pick it up if it doesn’t have too many miles on it.

Geez, after so many years of service they are finally getting rid that old thing? Not even 10 years old and they are dumping it. Money problems or is 7 years just too old now? Here in Milwaukee, apparatus are generally put in reserve pen when they are about 10 years old and are disposed of by about 15-20 years.
