2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 7-15-17

This from Eric Haak:

Engine 47 landed at 6416 S. Cottage Grove Avenue at about 4:50 Saturday morning (7/15) and reported heavy fire on the second floor and through the roof and asked for the box. Ten minutes later, Battalion 5 reported they had heavy fire through the roof and that they were completely defensive. It was elevated to a 2-11 a few minutes later. There was a 2-11 in the building next door on July 8, 2012 and pictures of that incident can be seen in the archives of this site.

This from Josh Boyajian:

Here are some of my shots from the 2-11 alarm this morning. I arrived well after the 2-11 was pulled. There was still a lot of fire underneath the part of the roof that didn’t collapse where companies had a hard time directing their water streams.

Chicago Still & Box Alarm, 1-31-16

This from Eric Haak:

The following are images of a still and box alarm fire that occurred at 6664 South Hartwell at approximately 8:45 am on Sunday, January 31st.  For those not familiar with Hartwell, it is right at the split between the Dan Ryan and the Skyway.  I was at 71st and Vincennes and arrived just after the first companies to give you an idea of how far in these images were taken.  I went to the front of the building first and there wasn’t much to shoot as you can see by the image of Engine 47 who was first up.  Most of the fire was in the back porches.  The engine seen in the alley is 84.

Chicago working fire on S. Princeton, 12-21-13

This from Eric Haak:

Here are some shots from yesterday’s working fire on the 5600 block of South Princeton.  I got there as the aerial was being raised and, although the 17th battalion reported that he had a fire, I did not see any signs of one when I was walking up.  Appeared to be a one room fire on the second floor and as I got to the front of the building, it was mostly out.  They held the roof but I believe they did take out the sky light.  One nice side note is that a small puppy was rescued by companies who made entry and returned it to a very grateful young girl.  Engine 84 had a hydrant, Engine 47 had a line stretched but not charged, and Engine 50 responded as well.  I believe one of these companies were returning from fuel at 65th & State which was the reason for the third engine.
