Schaumburg Ambulance 53

The Schaumburg Fire Department listing for Station 53 on Wright Boulevard has been updated to reflect the newer ambulance that is assigned to Ambulance 53. This is one of two Type I units received in 2010 that were built by Medtec on 2009 IHC 4300 chassis. The other unit is assigned to Ambulance 51.

Norwood Park added to the site

In Division 20, the Norwood Park Fire Protection District has been added to the site. Norwood Park operates out of one station on Lawrence Avenue in Harwood Heights. Their fire district covers Harwood Heights, Norridge, and Norwood Park Township which is unincorporated Cook County. They have a large station with three Medtec ambulances, two Pierce engines, a Pierce tower ladder, a command car, utility pickup, and the MABAS Division 20 Haz Mat Unit #749.

The department is expecting delivery of a new Pierce Impel engine in April and will be selling what is currently Engine 101, a 1996 Pierce Saber engine.

New ambulance in Deerfield

Martin Nowak spotted new delivery photos on the Foster Coach web site of an ambulance for Deerfield. The new unit is the first all red ambulance for the department contrasting the previous units with half the box painted white.

Glenview Fire Department Fleet Shot

Tim Olk had the good fortune to get the bulk of the Glenview Fire Department front line fleet assembled for a historic photo. Pictured are Truck 14, Engines 6,7,8,13, Battalion 6, and Ambulances 6 and 8. Ambulance 7 was called away for an EMS run and the balance of the fleet represents the department reserve units.

New Medtec ordered by Fox Lake

The Fox Lake Fire Department in Lake County recently ordered an ambulance from Medtec. The unit will be a Type I on a Ford F-450 chassis and will match one that is currently in their fleet. The new ambulance is expected in May or June of 2012.

Fox River & Countryside Fire Rescue District added

The Fox River & Countryside Fire/Rescue District has been added to the site. Bill Friedrich submitted images of the stations and apparatus. The new department went ‘live’ earlier this year with two stations, full-time personnel, and apparatus which is both new and used. The new apparatus includes two Medtec ambulances, and an engine plus two tankers on IHC 4400 chassis from Alexis. Used apparatus includes an ambulance from the Morrison Hospital, a small rescue from Rock Island, and engines from North Park and Bartlett.
