The Schaumburg Fire Department listing for Station 53 on Wright Boulevard has been updated to reflect the newer ambulance that is assigned to Ambulance 53. This is one of two Type I units received in 2010 that were built by Medtec on 2009 IHC 4300 chassis. The other unit is assigned to Ambulance 51.

according to Med Tec’s website, this is a Type I ambulance

Ahhh ok, I see. I had always just been told that Internationals/Freightliners/Ford F-650s were all Medium Duty. Thanks for the info!

They are both, Type I, II, and III refer specifically to how the module and chasis are configured, medium duty refers to the size of the chassis more than anything.

These are Medium Duty ambulances….not Type 1
