Fatal MVA involving Chicago FD Truck 52, 1-22-23

A driver was killed and three more people were seriously hurt after an SUV crashed into a Chicago fire truck on the Southwest Side early Sunday morning at about 2:38 a.m. on the outbound Stevenson Expressway at Pulaski Road near Archer Heights.

Chicago Truck 52 was stopped at another accident scene when it was hit. Four people, the SUV’s driver and passengers, were transported to a local hospital, where the driver was pronounced dead.

No firefighters were hurt in the crash.

Working fire in Chicago, 10-2-22

Here are some shots from a little working fire on October 2nd @ 3717 S Hermitage. Engine 39 had a quick knock on the fire and contained it to the living room. Members also rescued 2 dogs from the fire unit.

I took a ride to a fire in the 14th Battalion @ 2934 w 25th street. Companies landed with a 3-sty lightweight, with fire on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Companies made a push but were pulled out and went defensive for a few minutes. Engines 109, 23, and 107 were all lead out and had lines working. I arrived about 15 minutes into the alarm.

2600 W 35th St. Heavy smoke conditions reported in a large, fire resistive warehouse occupancy… discovered to be an auto fire deep within the building. MVU 923 was used to pressurize the building and clear the residual smoke, seemed to be very effective. Also got several decent apparatus shots.
