This from Eric Haak from the 2-11 Alarm fire in Chicago, 9-11-22
Here are some images from Sunday mornings 2-11 in Chicago. There was a deep-seated fire in the basement of the 50×100 auto parts store. Even though the building was 200 feet south of Engine 49’s house, the heavy fire load in the basement prompted a defensive attack early on.

This from Chi-Town Fire Photos:
Last night Battalion 19 got a run down for a working fire @ 5845 s Carpenter. Engine 116 arrived to find a 2 sty RED X grey stone with heavy fire showing from the 2nd floor. 116 deck gunned it on arrival, and lead out two 2.5’s along with Engines 84 and 50. Crews were defensive for a while and then made entry to mop up and hit hot spots. We were right down 59th street when it came in, and were able to get some outstanding pictures. The full gallery is on our site.

Chicago Fire Department
1554hrs: Special duty, : E50, 1559hrs: T18, E16, Bn18
Approx 51st Street
Norfolk Railroad Operations complex 3/2/97This was a fire in a crane unit that moved intermodal containers around. E50 eventually needed to be supplied, so they used T18 (notice the outriggers 🙂 ) to run a line.
I can’t for the life of me remember how we drove into the yard, but we beat E50 in. We had full access to the incident, and several NS yard employees watched. Now days if you tried this, they’d send a SWAT team after you.
