An article in the Quincy Herald Whig mentions several area departments that will receive FEMA grants.
The largest grant of $262,560 will go to the Skokie Fire Department …
The Lemont Fire Protection District will receive $165,240, Crestwood will get $87,077, the Emington-Campus Fire Protection District will get $75,881, and the Posen Fire Department will get $6,732.
Schaumburg companies responded to a fire in a third floor apartment at 1212 Algonquin Road early this afternoon. According to the TribLocalSchaumburg:
Police said it is believed to be a small fire that was contained to a single bedroom. One person was taken to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, but the individual’s identity and condition were not immediately available.
A Box Alarm was requested after the fire was out for change companies since all of the Schaumburg units were committed at the fire scene.

John Tulipano took in a general alarm this afternoon in West Chicago:
Well for once I was in the right place at the right time, I was behind West Chicago Station 1 when the general alarm came in. I followed the (3) buggies and TL6 to the fire.Not much to see, it was some type of fire in a research lab at Ball Seed. Initial reports was an incuibator on the 2nd floor.
