Roberts Park Box Alarm in Hickory Hills 5-12-13 (pt 3)

More on the Camelot Banquet Hall fire in Hickory Hills from the Chicago Sun-Times:

A Hickory Hills police officer is being hailed as a hero for rescuing the owners of a popular banquet hall after a fire erupted there about 4:30 a.m. Sunday, said Walter Sherman, battalion chief for the Roberts Park Fire Protection District in Justice.

Sherman said Officer Ryan Bajt knew that the facility’s two owners frequently slept at the hall. When he arrived on the scene, he immediately began banging on the door to the office and was able to wake the owners and get them out.

Also from Martin Nowak:

Wladek from Zespol Tornado took pictures of the inside of Camelot. I was allowed to share these photos.

Roberts Park Box Alarm in Hickory Hills 5-12-13

More images from the fire scene in Hickory Hills from the banquet hall fire.

This from Martin Nowak:

Here are some photos I’ve taken after the fire in Hickory Hills at the Camelot Banquets. It is a sad loss for the family, the building was remodeled not too long ago. As I was taking pictures, family of the owners were arriving to look at the damage. At this moment they were also boarding up the windows. There is heavy damage to the center of the building, including a large hole. If I remember clearly from the last time I’ve been there, that may be the kitchen or near the kitchen (My memory isnt that clear since its been at least 5 or more years) They had very good Polish food, I hope the family rebuilds soon. Thanks to my friend Caroline Juchas for her photo.

Don’t forget, tomorrow is the day for Hickory Hills. This tradition was started by the Justice Fire Department.

Ambulance re-chassis for Roberts Park FPD

This from Martin Nowak:

Roberts Park looking to re-chassis Ambulance 3R, which is a 2008 Ford F-450/Osage. This is not the first ambulance re-chassis for the district. The first was Ambulance 31 (2010 Ford E-450 Osage/2002 Medtec), it has a 2002 Medtec box that came off a 2002 Ford E-450 (Former A307). If 3R gets a new chassis, it will replace Ambulance 32 (2009 Ford E-450/Osage) which will become Ambulance 3R.

This is from the Roberts Park Public Meeting Minutes:
“Ambulance 3R, came back after extensive engine repairs. After being in service for about 3 days, it broke down in front of the station and had to be towed back to Hawk Ford. The problem appears to be in the fuel system. Repairs are estimated at$900.00.  In the coming fiscal year, Chief Ketchen plans to explore the feasibility of replacing the chassis. The ambulance box can be updated and remounted on a new chassis which saves approximately half the cost of an entirely new ambulance.”
