The longtime fire chief of Crestwood resigned suddenly last week and is now under investigation by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s office. Chief Jon Bruce, 54, left the force after a “difference of opinion of how he spent money” according to Crestwood Mayor Lou Presta who said that he didn’t think Bruce’s expenditures were possible but would not provide amounts or elaborate on what the money was spent on.

Bruce, a career firefighter, had been fire chief in Crestwood since at least 1999. With Bruce now out, Deputy Chief Duane Owen is now in charge of the fire department, which employs nearly 65 people.

Crestwood is a suburb with about 11,000 residents just south of the Tri-State Tollway near Cicero Ave., approximately 24 miles from Chicago.

New ambulance for Crestwood

Here are a few pictures of the Crestwood Fire Departments new 2017 Wheeled Coach Type 1 ambulance. These pictures were taken during their final inspection at the factory earlier this week. This new unit is on its way to Fire Service Inc. in St. John Indiana, where it will get a few finishing touches including lettering, striping, full rear chevron, and lighted front bumper guards. We will be sure to post additional pics once the unit is completed and ready for final delivery. A big Thank You to Chief Jon Bruce and the Crestwood Fire Department on this purchase. This is their second new Wheeled Coach this year.

We would like to thank Mayor Presta, the Board of Trustees and Chief Hardwick for the refurbishing of our 2000 KME engine. Under the supervision of Chief Hardwick the body had numerous rust spots throughout repaired . All repairs were made and the body was completely painted. All lights were up graded. We will get another 10 plus years of service from this engine.

New ambulance for Crestwood

Congratulations and a big Thank You to Chief Jon Bruce and the members of the Crestwood Fire Department on their new Wheeled Coach, Type I ambulance. This new unit is on a 2017 F-450 chassis, with Liquid Spring suspension system. This is Crestwood’s first Wheeled Coach and boasts all LED emergency and interior dome lighting, LED strip lighting in the exterior compartments, as well as custom interior cabinetry. A Federal EQ2B siren, and Buell air horns complete the package. The paint scheme is done in Crestwood’s black over red style. This unit includes Wheeled Coach’s custom “COOLBAR” with center opticom … a Stryker Power Load System and new Stryker Power Cot. We want to welcome this department to the Fire Service family and we appreciate their support. Thanks Again.

New ambulance for Crestwood

Congratulations and a big Thank You to Chief Jon Bruce and the Crestwood IL FD on their purchase of a new 2017 Wheeled Coach, Type I ambulance. This new unit will be on a 2017 Ford F450 4×2 chassis with a Liquid Spring Suspension System. This custom unit will also contain Wheeled Coaches “COOLBAR” HVAC system, all LED lighting and custom interior. This is Crestwood’s first Wheeled Coach unit. We appreciate your trust and want to welcome the Crestwood Fire Department to the Fire Service family. Delivery in approx 120 days. We will post addtional pictures as the unit progresses. Thank You.

The ambulance that was given to Crestwood is in service. It is numbered as 2352. Its a 2003-2007 Ford E-Series. Here are some pictures from outside the station looking in. I didnt get a chance to catch someone and ask them to pull the unit out.
