Here’s another classic audio recording. Tommy O’Donnell in the 13th with a few classic transmissions. Jim Lee was on the original call reporting the incident. Joe Pavlik on the radio in the FAO. 3-11 Alarm at 3819 Madison St. on 11-14-90

This from Steve Redick:
This recording made by Jim Regan seems to pick up on the evening of January 10, 1982. Suburban mutual aid was called in as they were battling a conflagration on Junior Terrace. Art Benker is on the radio in the FAO and the chief was Joe Brichetto. Amazing how calm and matter of fact he was as he described how they were gonna lose another apartment building. You can also hear Louis Galante a few times as a second responding deputy chief. These recordings don’t do justice to the horrible cold and fire conditions members faced that day

This from Steve Redick:
Some more classic CFD radio. Warren Jonas was the call taker and yours truly gave out the still on the amplifier. Joe Pavlik was on the radio in the office. I think the 7th battalion was Mike Hughes 2-11 3607 Fullerton. Nothing unusual about this but just a good old typical extra alarm.

February 23, 1964. A great article with some very famous names. It may be hard to read but if you enlarge each page you should be able to read all of it. Classic Chicago Fire Department …Louis Galante and my dad were very close in those years. They taught classes together and many a time I would come home from school and they would be “pulling ceiling” in our bar downstairs. That was a great time to be in and around the CFD. This was too good not to shareSteve

Here’s something I found in my archives. It’s a complete CFD directory from 1955. If you take the time to look it over there are lots of interesting things.
