Taylor Kinney, best known to fans of The CW as Mason Lockwood from The Vampire Diaries, has landed a lead role on Chicago Fire, an upcoming drama produced by Law & Order head honcho Dick Wolf.
The series will center around the men and women of the Chicago Fire Department, with Kinney – as first reported by Deadline – portraying Squad Lieutenant Kelly Severide, someone described as an “adrenaline junkie.”

Trauma wasn’t too bad… Like all other shows on tv in the genre more personal lives and relationships then actually job stuff

I don’t know if you can judge an actor based on a prior show that he was on. It all depends on the writers and producers creating a good product for him to use his talents with. I do wish that they would have gone for less of a pretty boy, though.

I’m just saying but casting the same guy that was in “Trauma,” doesn’t give me high hopes for this any more.

As of now, each fire company has a captain assigned to it. From what I recall, one captain in charge of the firehouse, one in charge of apparatus. Usually, the Capts do not work the same shifts in the same house. The other two shifts have a lieutenant assigned to the rig. Both supervisors, Capt being a rank higher than the Lt.

I know this is a TV show so nevermind that. But in the real Chicago Fire Department, what are the differences between a Captain and Lieutenant? Does each house have 1 Captain, or 1 per shift or does it not matter?
