This from Martin Nowak:
In September, Roberts Park bought this Ford F-350/Wheeled Coach to run as a second spare ambulance. It is lettered 3R2, since the current spare is 3R (2008 Ford F-450/Osage, former 308 then 31) The ambulance comes from Virginia and was purchase to be in service as a backup unit. Had only 32,000 miles when bought.
I’ve also attached a picture of A3R
Roberts Park recently sent Ambulance 32 to Osage for a rechassis. The 2009 Ford E-450/Osage got a new chassis that is a 2013 or 2014 Ford E-450/2009 Osage. The new chassis is missing the RP logos on the doors. I believe they will be added on soon. Last picture is of the old chassis
Harry Pederson submitted a number of images chronicling the current and recent past apparatus of the Franklin Park Fire Department.

McHenry FPD updates
Aug 26
Karl Klotz, Steve Redick, and Larry Shapiro visited all five stations of the McHenry Township FPD last week to update the site. In addition to new units, this is one of many area departments that is in the process of renumbering apparatus.
Among the new and updated units photographed; there were three ambulances, two engines, two tenders, and a new boat.
- McHenry went from a one tender department to a three tender department with a tender in all but the downtown station. The new twin 3,500-gallon tenders were built by US Tanker on IHC 7500 chassis with extended cabs.
- Tender 1272 is at Station 2, and Tender 1274 is at Station 4.
Two Pierce engines have been put into service since our last update and one was moved. The new engines are on the Impel XM chassis instead of the Velocity.
- These are assigned as Engine 41 at Station 1 and Engine 43 at Station 3.
- Engine 44 at Station 4 was formerly Engine 10 at Station 1.
- There are two more engines on order, each coming in six month intervals.
The ambulance fleet has changed for the most part since our last visit.
- The newest ambulance is a 2013 Type I by Osage at Station 4, running as Ambulance 54.
- Another new ambulance is a 2012 Type I AEV at Station 1, running as Ambulance 51.
- Ambulance 52 at Station 2 is a 2010 Osage Type I that has also been added since our last update.
- Boat 1292 at Station 2 is a 2013, 24′ boat built by Clark Boats with a rigid hull.
In MABAS Division 21, the North Palos Fire Protection District has been added to the site. The district runs out of three stations, one of which is the former Worth Fire Department which became part of the North Palos district in January of 2009. The Worth personnel, station and apparatus were merged into or became part of the North Palos Fire Protection District.
Jeff Rudolph visited the Lake Villa Fire District recently and submitted updated images of several ambulances, two of which have been repainted to match the fire district colors. The units were previously owned and purchased by the Lake Villa Rescue Squad and were blue and white. The rescue squad has since merged under the fire district and all apparatus is red. Refer to the previous post HERE and HERE for much of the information.
The Bolingbrook Fire Department in MABAS Division 16, has been added to the site. Bolingbrook runs out of five stations. Each station has a suppression company and all but Station 5 run a medic unit. The suppression company at Station 1 is a jump company utilizing either the engine or the truck depending on the nature of the dispatch. As mentioned previously, a new engine is on order for Station 5, and a new medic unit will be in service before the year ends.
The suppression apparatus are a mixture of Precision Fire Apparatus (out of Camdenton, MO), Ferrara, Grumman, and Seagrave. Medic units were build by Road Rescue, Wheeled Coach, Life Line, and Osage.
Missing from the images posted on the site are a 1992 Seagrave reserve engine at Station 4, and two large trailers. One at Station 4 carries a Gator AWD unit, and one at Station 5 houses the technical rescue equipment.
The medic unit running out of Station 1 was formerly owned by Air Angels, Inc. which went out of business in February of 2009. Air Angels operated ground medical transport and helicopter transport. In 2008, an Air Angels helicopter crashed.
Martin Nowak spotted a recent delivery from Osage Ambulances for the McHenry Township Fire Protection District of a 2011 Type I unit on a Ford F450 chassis.

New Ambulances in Lake Villa
Mar 20
The Lake Villa Fire District received two new ambulances. They are Type III units built in 2011 by Osage on Ford E-450 chassis. According to information received by Jeff Rudolph, neither of them are numbered yet and both identical. As best as can be determined, Ambulance 243, the 05′ was retired. Old Ambulance 242 became Ambulance 244, Ambulance 244 became Ambulance 245. It is not clear where old Ambulance 241 went. The two new units will be assigned to Ambulances 241 and 242.
As reported HERE, the new ambulances are painted red. This is a departure from the current ambulance fleet that is painted blue and white and was purchased as part of the Lake Villa Rescue Squad.
The new ambulance will replace the current, 2010 Osage built ambulance that is assigned to Ambulance 242. This unit is being reassigned as Ambulance 244 which is the second ambulance out of Station 2.
