Found a small Stack of the Old Chicago Fire Fighter magazine. Here is an apparatus profile in the autumn 1967 issue profiling all the new “usual”  vehicles joining the department.

Gary Fire Department history

The Gary Fire Department operated this 1914 American La France Type 14-6 Chemical and Ladder apparatus. It carried ALF Serial #738. It had a 50 gallon chemical tank and a large assortment of ground ladders plus truck tools. It ran as Truck Co. No. 1 until 1927 when it was replaced by a Magirus 85′ rear mount aerial.

Gary Fire Department history

This from Wayne Stuar for #TBT:

The Gary Fire Department operated this 1950 American La France pumper Serial #L-4034. It had a 1000-GPM pump and a 300-gallon tank. It also carried a 40Ft. and a 38 Ft.  ladder as well as a 24 Ft. and a 12 Ft roof ladder. It ran as Engine Company No. 7  in Miller for many years.

For TBT-This is a picture of Calumet City Engine 2, a Diamond T/Darley of unknown age.  Sorry, no specs.  Still in service as picture was taken at Blue Island FD 100th anniversary in 1979.  Enjoy and comment.

For TBT- An Ahrens Fox of a unknown age doing what it does best.  Does the green light mean it represents a Chicago Fire Truck?  I do not know.  Please respond.  Photo taken in Blue Island at a fire truck/auto show in the early 1990’s.

The Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department operated this 19?? Ford/Intercoastal pumper. It had a 500-GPM pump and a 500-gallon tank.

For T BT-The Markham Fire Dept.’s E53, a 1964 IHC/? 750/800.  It was replaced in 1984 with a Ford C/E-One 750/500 as E1531.
