This from Josh Boyajian:

Robert’s Park FPD was dispatched for a trailer fire today at 775 Maple Lane. While enroute, the First engine reported a header of smoke and upgraded to a working fire response. This from Martin Nowak:

In September, Roberts Park bought this Ford F-350/Wheeled Coach to run as a second spare ambulance. It is lettered 3R2, since the current spare is 3R (2008 Ford F-450/Osage, former 308 then 31) The ambulance comes from Virginia and was purchase to be in service as a backup unit. Had only 32,000 miles when bought.

Roberts Park recently sent Ambulance 32 to Osage for a rechassis. The 2009 Ford E-450/Osage got a new chassis that is a 2013 or 2014 Ford E-450/2009 Osage. The new chassis is missing the RP logos on the doors. I believe they will be added on soon. Last picture is of the old chassis

Roberts Park updates

This from Martin Nowak:

“Staff Car – Chief Ketchen outlined the draft budget includes the replacement of one staff car this coming fiscal year. Chief’s intent is to sell the 2003 Crown Victoria, and move the Deputy Chief’s vehicle into the staff fleet. Permission granted by the Board to move forward with the purchase of a new vehicle for the Deputy Chief.  Ambulance Re-Chassis – Chief Ketchen proposed the replacement of the chassis on Ambulance 32. The 2009 ambulance has been plagued with problems since its purchase. The preliminary estimate is $62,000.

A motion was made by Trustee Lorenz to proceed with the re-chassis of Ambulance 32, with fees not to exceed $70,000.00.” http://www.rpfpd.org/content/minutes/file/Minutes%20May%2014%2C%202013%20approved.pdf

Car Replacement – Having been given permission by the Board to replace the Deputy Chief’s vehicle, Chief initially indicated that we would sell the 2003 Crown Victoria. After some consideration, Chief would like to evaluate the Crown Vic and the 2005 Impala to determine which car we should keep to best serve the District’s interests. On Site Refueling – Chief submitted a proposal from Palatine Oil to install on site Diesel and Gasoline pumps. The only costs associated with installation would be to run electricity to the site and install a protective barrier around the tanks. No installation or permit fees are associated with the project. Permission granted from the Board to move forward. http://www.rpfpd.org/content/minutes/file/Minutes%20June%2011%2C%202013%20approved.pdf

Ambulance re-chassis for Roberts Park FPD

This from Martin Nowak:

Roberts Park looking to re-chassis Ambulance 3R, which is a 2008 Ford F-450/Osage. This is not the first ambulance re-chassis for the district. The first was Ambulance 31 (2010 Ford E-450 Osage/2002 Medtec), it has a 2002 Medtec box that came off a 2002 Ford E-450 (Former A307). If 3R gets a new chassis, it will replace Ambulance 32 (2009 Ford E-450/Osage) which will become Ambulance 3R.

This is from the Roberts Park Public Meeting Minutes:
“Ambulance 3R, came back after extensive engine repairs. After being in service for about 3 days, it broke down in front of the station and had to be towed back to Hawk Ford. The problem appears to be in the fuel system. Repairs are estimated at$900.00.  In the coming fiscal year, Chief Ketchen plans to explore the feasibility of replacing the chassis. The ambulance box can be updated and remounted on a new chassis which saves approximately half the cost of an entirely new ambulance.”
