Chicago house fire on West Iowa 4-6-13

This from Josh Boyajian:

Chicago companies had a Still and Box alarm @ 4258 w Iowa this afternoon. Fire looked like it started on the first floor and then extended into the 2nd floor and attic. Still companies were 117 and Tower 14. Wind was blowing really strong, which made it a little difficult for the companies. Here are some of my photos.

This from Dan McInerney:

Happened across a drill with members of the 13th Battalion on the 4000 blk of West End, just west of 95’s house. Present were E95 and 113, T26 and 14 drilling under the supervision of the 13th on roof operations. T26 had its main raised and T14 deployed a 40 ladder on the west side of the house. In the background are members of T26 on the roof.

This from Martin Nowak:

Today was the day Roberts Park drove Santa around Justice. I managed to get two videos and two pictures before going to work. The videos will be uploaded tonight or tomorrow, but here is a picture. Don’t forget, tomorrow is the day for Hickory Hills. This tradition was started by the Justice Fire Department.

Chicago 2-11 Alarm fire 12-14-11

The Chicago Tribune reported the following about a 2-11 Alarm fire this morning:

Nearly 100 Chicago firefighters this morning battled an extra-alarm blaze on the city’s West Side that jumped from a Chinese restaurant to two storefronts with second-floor apartments, officials said.

No injuries were reported in the 2-11 alarm fire that appeared to have started in the one-story restaurant  near the intersection of Cicero Avenue and Harrison Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

The blaze, fueled by tar on the roof of the restaurant, then traveled to two buildings on either side, said Fire Department spokesman Richard Rosado.

The fire broke out about 3 a.m. and spread quickly despite a steady rainfall. It was finally brought under control about 5:45 a.m. Fire officials said the fire was fueled by tar on the roof of the restaurant. As many as 99 firefighters were on the scene.

The complete article can be found HERE.

Gordon J.Nord, Jr. was on the scene and submitted several images from the fire.
