This from Erik Haak:
At 1631hrs on Friday afternoon, the Englewood Fire Alarm Office dispatched a working fire response to 1650 W. 75th Place. At 1634hrs, Truck 50 confirmed a working fire in a 50×100 1-story ordinary commercial structure. Truck 50 reported a possible truss roof and almost immediately called for the Still & Box. Battalion 20 set up defensive operations with Engine 129 operating in sector 1 and Tower Ladder 39 setting up in a lot to the east of the fire building. Squad 5’s snorkle operated on the parkway to the east of the building as well. At 1656hrs, 2-2-5 pulled a 2-11. Tower Ladder 34 was set up to the west of the fire building at the end of Paulina Street. The first photo taken in my series was shot nearly an hour after the fire started. The 2-11 was struck out at 1821hrs and companies stayed on scene chasing hot spots until just before 2000hrs.

The Chicago Tribune just posted the following article:
Staff report6:06 p.m. CDT, November 2, 2012Two firefighters were seriously injured in a 2-11 alarm fire on the South Side that also brought an Emergency Medical Services Plan response from fire officials this evening.Firefighters on the scene called a Mayday response for a trapped firefighter, but the firefighter was located, and the response secured, with two firefighters injured and taken to area hospitals in serious-to-critical condition, Chicago Fire Department spokeswoman Meg Ahlheim said.
Firefighters were called to the scene at 5:15 p.m. for the fire on the 2300 block of West 50th Place. The building was a frame home, 2-1/2 stories tall and about 25 feet by 40 feet, Ahlheim said.
Four adults and four children were displaced by the house fire, she said. The fire originally was in the attic when firefighters arrrived, and both firefighters were injured inside the building, said Ahlheim, who had no details about their injuries.
One firefighter was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn for treatment and the other was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, she said.
Check back for updates.

This from Eric Haak about this morning’s 2-11 in the city:
Just before 04:43 hrs, Chicago Fire Department Engine 47 and Truck 30 pulled up to find fire showing from the first floor of a 3-story, 75×100, mixed occupancy building at 6427 S. Cottage Grove. Within two minutes, Battalion 17 called for the Still & Box and reported that the stairs leading to the upper floors had been compromised. Access to the second and third floors had to be made via ground ladders. At 04:50 hrs, Battalion 17 called for the 2-11 as fire vented from the roof and jeopardized the rear porches. Things were brought under control relatively quickly after that and the 2-11 Alarm was struck at 05:18.
