This from Wayne Stuart for #TBT:
With all the new ambulances appearing on the site I thought I would dip into the archives and give a look into the past with this 1966 Cadillac manufactured by the Superior Professional Car Company. It was a Crowne Royale model and was operated by the Palos Heights Fire Department. The photo was taken in 1979.

Sometimes I wonder why the old joke that doctors always drive CADILLACS. Perhaps that comes from so many CADILLAC ambulances and how good they were and doctors followed suite.
My doctor drives either a FORD EXPLORER or JEEP product but I forgot what he specifically told me.
This was before paramedics and you can’t stand up in these old things.

Holy hearse Batman!! What a ride. I briefly worked on a Caddy as a young EMT in the Privates. It was like riding on a cushion of air.
