Excerpts from kvsf12.com:
The Moreland Family who owns the McDonald’s in West Frankfort said that they’ve done fundraisers in the past, but for the first time they had one for the fire department.
Firefighters helped take orders, make food, and share a meal with the community. Twenty percent of all proceeds made during the event will go to the fire department, they also sold cookies during the event, and accepted donations. They collected $1132.51.
They also had several firetrucks on site for the public to tour.
The Moreland family said its important to spend one on one time with
first respondersfirefighters to build trust and be more comfortable with them if they ever find themselves in emergency situations.West Frankfort Fire Chief Jody Allen said that he hopes that this also will inspire others to become firefighters. Allen said that the funds raised will help buy new equipment, and some of the funds will go towards a new device to help better train for emergency situations.
From the West Frankfort FD Facebook page:
