This from Mike Summa for #TBT:
For TBT – With the 50th Anniversary of the Orland Fire Protection District this year, here is a glimpse of their pre-district days. It is a tanker built on a 1940’s International chassis. If anyone knows more information, please feel free to inform.

Excerpts from mystateline.com:
On Monday, the Rockford Finance and Personnel Committee approved changes to ambulance service fees. The new policy would only charge insurance companies and eliminate costs to Rockford residents. Non-residents would still have to pay the outstanding balance.City officials hope the move will give forest city residents some financial relief in the future. The change would also increase the transport fee to $1,500. Currently the fee for residents is $600 to $800 and about $1,400 for non-residents. The changes will not affect patients covered by Medicare or Medicaid. Early projections show the new flat fee will help the city’s bottom line. The changes will be up for vote at the next full city council on Monday, April 29th.
Rolling Meadows firefighters were sent to 2905 W. Algonquin Road Wednesday afternoon (4/24/19) for smoke in the building. This was the Egg’lectic Cafe. Joliet Fire Department news
Apr 23
Excerpts from the Herald-news.com:
The city of Joliet has increased fees it charges for ambulance services provided by the Joliet Fire Department. The $200 fee increases will have the biggest direct impact on people who live outside Joliet. The city bills Joliet residents for ambulance service but waives any portion of the bill not covered by Medicare, Medicaid, or private insurance. The waiver does not apply to nonresidents.
The new fees will be $1,800 for Basic Life Support, $1,900 for Advanced Life Support, and $2,000 for Advanced Life Support II. The mileage charge will go up by $3 a mile to $18 a mile. The higher fees are expected to generate an additional $195,000 for the city.
The city will not charge a fee for transport without medical treatment.
The Joliet City Council on Tuesday approved the fee increase. The last fee increase was in 2015. The city also plans to go out for bids on the billing service for ambulance fees. Joliet now uses Andres Medical Billing.

From the MABAS Illinois Facebook page:
It is in great sadness we share the following:
Firefighter/Paramedic Paul Miller’s condition is unchanged – he remains on life-support – and it has been determined that recovery is medically impossible. Pursuant to Paul’s previously-expressed wishes, Paul’s family has courageously decided to terminate life-support.
In keeping with Paul’s giving attitude and generosity – also pursuant to his expressed wishes – several of his organs will be donated so that other may live and flourish through – and with – Paul’s spirit. The donation process may take another 36-to-72 hours.
Today, Tuesday April 23rd at 4:00 PM, there will be a Flag Ceremony held at the main hospital flagpole of Advocate Condell Medical Center, 801 S. Milwaukee Ave in Libertyville, where a “Gift of Hope” flag will be raised in recognition of Paul’s gifts of life to others. The brief ceremony will be led by Des Plaines Fire Department Chaplain David Haley. All available personnel are welcome.
The organ donation process is very fluid, as match-testing, recipient notification and preparation, and other processes take time – and anticipated time frames have not yet been determined. Such processes are expected to take longer than 24-hours from now (1:00 pm on Tuesday).
We will provide additional information in future updates.
