There is a MABAS box card for large scale events in the city (Fire, EMS, Special Rescue & HAZMAT) so that if an incident grows to a scale that is beyond what the CFD can handle internally, they can utilize this to get help into the city quickly, rather than picking and choosing who should respond.

It is usually up to each MABAS division to assign the ambs. In the case of MABAS Div. 11, there are 7 depts., but only three of them have more than one ambulance staffed, so for those depts. there is a “buffer” of still having an amb available for calls in district. The same can be said for those single station depts. that send their engine or truck mutual aid, leaving only an amb behind or a minimally staffed suppression rig. Div. 11 depts. in that situation will usually do an off-duty call back if their duty crew is committed out of town.

That Engine 60 sure is a nice looking rig.
