New engine for Countryside

In Division 4, Countryside has received another new piece of apparatus. This one built by Rosenbauer Central States is a commercial engine on an IHC WorkStar chassis with a MaxxForce 9 engine. It can be seen HERE on the Rosenbauer website. The new engine has a 1,250-GPM Rosenbauer pump and carries 750 gallons of water.

Oak Park is on-track to receive their two new HME Ahrens Fox engines in mid-October. Both engines are on HME 1871 chassis with 3,000-watt Command Lights nested on the roof of the cabs. (a big aide for fire photographers at night-time scenes) Each will have a 1,500-GPM pump, 500 gallons of water, 20 gallons of Class A and 30 gallons of Class B foam. Another fire department has been added to the site thanks to the diligence of Karl Klotz … although we’re still awaiting images of the stations. Nonetheless, the Troy Fire Protection District is now on the site showing apparatus from both stations. Troy recently opened a new headquarters station and began ordering apparatus in a new color scheme. As recently as their 2008 IHC/Medtec ambulance and 2008 Kenworth/Pierce Contender tanker, all of their apparatus was lime green, . They now have four units that are painted black over a very deep red. Two new Pierce Arrow XT engines are in service as well as a Ford/Medtec ambulance and a brush unit on a four-door Ford pickup.
Troy currently has two engines carrying number 2221. They have not as yet determined what the new designation will be for the older engine 2221.
Several firehouses in Chicago have had updated postings to show new rigs or company emblems.
The following houses have had company emblems added: Engine 4, Engine 5, Truck 19, Truck 3, Tower 21, Engine 49, OFI, and the 5-11 Club
The following rig photos have been added or updated: Battalion 14, Ambulance 11, Ambulance 4, Ambulance 85, 4-5-7, and the 5-11 Support Units at Engine 106‘s house and Engine 80‘s house
Karl Klotz provided images for the Northwest Homer FPD. They have two stations filled with Pierce apparatus, the newest of which was delivered this month.
Northwest Homer moved from MABAS Division 19 to Division 15 at the beginning of the year. Their rigs rotate running positions and between the two stations which is why they do not have numbers on the doors. This department is made up of a combination of paid, contract, and part-time personnel.
Karl Klotz has provided images to bring two new departments to the website. Northwest Homer and Troy Fire Protection Districts should be posted this week.
New Pierce in St. Charles

Another new Pierce has been delivered, this time into St. Charles. Job #23187 is a 100′ rear mount aluminum aerial ladder on an Arrow XT chassis. Truck 101 has a 2,000-GPM pump and carries 500 gallons of water. This is the first Pierce into what has been an all Seagrave department for many years.

New Pierce in Evanston

As reported earlier, Evanston has received their new Pierce Arrow XT engine for Station 23. This has a 1,500-GPM pump and a 500-gallon water tank. It features an extended cab with a raised roof and non-painted roll-up compartment doors similar to Engine 21. The cab features short barrier style doors which is a first for Evanston. It carries Pierce job #23324. As pictured here, it does not yet appear to have been adorned with the Northwestern University Wildcat emblem as was speculated since the university provided funding for this unit.

Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD members of the Lake County Honor Guard lowered the flag at Station 541 to half mast this morning as part of their ceremony to commemorate the 9th anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Larry Shapiro photo
Many local area fire departments marked the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks today. There are photos depicting two of these ceremonies in galleries HERE from the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods FPD and the Palatine Rural FPD.
The Lincolnshire-Riverwoods apparatus pulled onto the apron at station 51 to symbolically represent the FDNY response to the initial attack at the World Trade Center nine years ago.
