Excerpts from wgntv.com:

In the darkness that comes earlier these days, flames lit up the sky for miles in Kildeer following a massive fire.

A multi-story home caught fire and is uninhabitable. The structure may be a total loss. The size of the fire necessitated a mutual aid response from a dozen neighboring communities. Firefighters used a dry hydrant where water is pulled from retention ponds because there are no fire hydrants in the area.

Lake Zurich Fire Chief David Pilgrad says that given the flames’ intensity, the exterior side of one of the adjacent homes had to be drenched as a precaution.

Everyone made it out of the home safely and did not require emergency care or hospitalization. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Excerpts from the NWHerald.com:

According to Palatine Deputy Fire Chief Patrick Gratzianna, the fire department received an activated fire alarm at approximately 10:17 a.m. and crews were on scene six minutes later. â€śPolice arrived first and notified us they had visual flames and smoke, so we bumped up the call to a Code 4” he said.

Crews extended a hose line into the kitchen’s hood, grill and duct area, but gas was feeding the fire. Nicor crews arrived and shut off gas to the building, and the remaining fire quickly went out.

Truck fire in Schaumburg, 6-8-16

Schaumburg companies were sent to the SB IL Route 53 local lanes just past I90 just after midnight on Wednesday (6/8/16) for fire in a semi-trailer. They encountered fire in a 40′ trailer that was almost fully-loaded with commercial uniforms. Battalion 5 requested a tanker from Long Grove and the Elk Grove Township to supply Engine 52 with two lines off. Schaumburg Engines 51 and 54 plus Squad 55 were all on the scene and had used their tank water.

Rolling Meadows Engine 16 and Hoffman Estates Engine 21 were also on the scene assisting with manpower during the almost two-hour process to remove the smoldering contents of the truck. Also at the scene were Schaumburg Trucks 52 and 53, and Schaumburg Ambulances 53 and 54.
