The Lake and McHenry County Sonar Team was called out again on Wednesday. This time they were requested into Libertyville to assist with locating a gun which had been tossed into the DesPlaines River near Route 176. Swift water divers were deployed into the current of the river but were unable to locate the gun. They will resume the search again today (Thursday).
You guessed it … Tim Olk went to the scene and submitted several images.
The TribLocal reported HERE that:
Libertyville firefighters assisting in a North Chicago police investigation have been searching for a gun in the Des Plaines River Wednesday afternoon, according to officials.
The Daily Herald has an article HERE which states in part that:
North Chicago police requested the help of the Libertyville fire department’s dive team in locating the weapon, which police said was used in a nonfatal shooting last week.
Fire department officials said the suspect was in custody, but police want to analyze the weapon to see if it was involved in any other shootings.

The NW Herald reported on a fisherman that drowned in Johnsburg (McHenry County) after falling through the ice on Friday.
Authorities have ended the search for a missing angler that fell through the ice into Pistakee Bay on Friday evening after finding the victim’s body this morning.
Justin Ribar, 29, of Wonder Lake, was pronounced dead at 11:12 a.m. today, the Coroner’s Office said. An autopsy is scheduled for 9 a.m. Monday.
A lakefront homeowner called 911 shortly before 6 p.m. Friday after hearing cries for help from the bay. The homeowner never saw the person, but could hear the yelling, McHenry Township Fire Protection District Chief Tony Huemann said.
Rescue crews using air boats were able to travel across the ice. They found a glove, a boot and fishing gear on the ice near a section of ice that appeared to have been broken through, Battalion Chief Joe Krueger said.
