Country Club Hills Fire Department responded to a house fire with entrapment at 4136 177th St. Companies found the victim inside, and transported to South Suburban Hospital.

Engine 74 is a 2014 Pierce Arrow XT. It is acting as Engine 72 for the time being, so Truck 72 could get repaired. When it goes to Station 4, a hard suction will be put on the front bumper of the engine to make it a drafting engine in rural tender ops.

Yesterday was PFC Aaron Toppens’ funeral in Mokena. Mokena Fire Protection District requested change of quarters companies to cover both sides of Wolf Rd which was being used for the procession from the church to the cemetery. Frankfort, Peotone, Homer Twp, Manhattan, New Lenox, and Palos Heights were there.

The fire was in Mokena at 10009 Cambridge Dr Court D. Mokena PD got on-scene reporting heavy smoke showing. The fire was upgraded to a Full Still when Mokena command got on the scene. The fire was in the kitchen of a two-story condo building.

Call came in at 15:42hrs for a house fire, with people trapped on a balcony. Also one dog was still inside the house. Police got on scene reporting a fire in sector 3. Squad 32 got on scene and dropped a line, while Truck 35 made the rescue in the rear of the building. The fire was knocked quickly.

Chicago Fire Department officials and family of Fire Capt. Herbert “Herbie” Johnson were among those who memorialized him on the anniversary of his death Saturday.
Johnson died after suffering severe burns fighting an extra-alarm fire at a home in the 2300 block of West 50th Place on Nov. 2, 2012.
Johnson’s wife, Susan Johnson, received a memorial bronze fire helmet from his colleagues at the firehouse where he was stationed, Engine 123, Tower Ladder 39, 2217 W. 51st Street, where Johnson’s brother, Firefighter Teddy Johnson, still works.
As part of the ceremony, which included a firebell ringing in Capt. Johnson’s honor, a memorial was unveiled that includes a bronze fire helmet, a photo of Johnson and a plaque commemorating Johnson in honor of his work in New York City following the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks.
