From Associated Firefighters of Oak Brook IAFF Local 4646:
On April 1st the Village will be terminating its contract with Paramedic Services of Illinois (PSI) and eliminating 9 paramedics from the fire department. There have been multiple elected officials and now candidates for Oak Brook trustee that have stated there will be no reduction of service.
We know that seconds matter when it comes to all the different types of emergencies we respond to and reducing daily minimum staffing by 27% will certainly affect those response times.
But, you don’t have to just take our word for it. Take a listen to the clip below where Dr. Gopal Lalmalani, prior to being elected to Village President, urges the Board of Trustees not to eliminate 6 paramedics. April 1st, his board is eliminating 9 paramedics.
thanks Danny

I like how the Oakbrook local is advocating and attempting to defend PSI paramedic positions. Those spots should have been something worth fighting for in terms of being staffed by union members….for years now.
Now, they fight for the necessity of a for profit position outside of the union? Yeah…it’s too late….

Just where exactly are the ambulances going to manned then by, Oakbrook Fire personnel? Or are they planning to sponge off Lombard, Elmhurst and Downers Grove, among others?
