The magic of Hollywood continues around Chicago as the production company works to create footage for several episodes of the new show called Chicago Fire. Filming has been spotted at Engine 18’s house which provides a view out the rear of the apparatus bays that shows the Chicago skyline. Some information about the cast can be found HERE. A recent article HERE details some of the filing, and last week there was a nighttime fire scene that was created near the corners of Franklin Street and Institute Place.
Today they are reportedly shooting a scene with a large wreck and extrication on Lower Wacker Drive near Columbus Avenue.
Our past reports on the show are HERE, HERE, and HERE.
Here is a list of some of the apparatus being used.

I saw the show “Engine 51” followed by an old HME/Luverene (from the first batch in 1996-1997) out on the west side around the Western/I-290 area on Monday morning, followed by what looked like production vans. Do we know if they were filming out on the west side as well?

Engine 51. NBC. The Ghost of Mr. Cinader is perhaps involved in production?
Possibly a good omen for the quality of the show????
Here’s hoping….

Thanks for the information, hughes, even though you submitted your post before mine I believe that they were put on the site at the same time so I didn’t see your post until mine was put up. I saw the first post on Olkees website over a week ago and if you notice they were also doing some shots out of Engine 95’s quarters. There is also a shot taken in front of one of our regular Squad rigs however I don’t know what company it was.
The repainted Haz Mat looks pretty good however I really hope that the CFD Fleet Management dept finds someone to supply us with either new or rehabbed Snorkels for our Snorkel/Squads as I wouldn’t like to see Chicago go back to single piece Squad companies without Snorkels.

Scott, while I wasn’t there of course, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were actually using the 1996 model HME Saulsbury Squad and I have a hunch that the information about them using the 1988 Spartan Saulsbury could be a mix up as the 1996 black over red HME Saulsbury was sometimes used as a spare Haz Mat unit as well as a spare squad company.

Seeing the Squad from afar, almost looked like the spare “SQUAD” that used to be Sqd 1’s and not the old hazmat… just wondering?

I can’t help but wonder if the spare Hazmat Squad was repainted to black over red for the TV pilot or if it was filmed in the original white over red colors that it was delivered in.
