This from ike Summa for #TBT:
For TBT-This was the South Holland Fire Dept.’s Engine 664, a 1969 ALF 1250/500. This engine was repainted in 1983 and the diesel engine was replaced with a Allis-Chalmers diesel engine. Enjoy and comment.Mike Summa

I forget the reason, but Allis-Chalmers was donating some diesels and, if I recall, installing or helping with the cost of installation. South Holland got at least 3, for Engines 61, 62 and 64, I don’t recall if they put 1 in the snorkel. Thornton turned them down, and I don’t remember who else got the offer.

I believe it’s a 900 series……American Lafrance has always been one of my favorites….I’m not aware of Allis Chalmers diesel for fire apparatus use.

Beautiful classic. Always the jackpot question being where is it now?
Had no idea that ALLIS CHALMERS had automotive type engines.
