Chicago firefighters battled a 2-11 Alarm fire with a Haz Mat Level I today (2/9/16) in an auto repair shop at 221 W. 65th Street.
This from Dennis McGuire, Jr.:
Here are some shots of the 2-11 today.
This from Josh Boyajian:
Here are some of my shots from the 2-11 alarm this morning. I arrived well after the 2-11 was pulled. There was still a lot of fire underneath the part of the roof that didn’t collapse where companies had a hard time directing their water streams.

Also, in case people didn’t hear the radio traffic, this would have been a great fire to get to quickly from a photographer’s point of view. Engine 84’s size up was “heavy fire pumping out of everywhere”. Also first went out as an alley garage but was quickly changed to an auto repair shop.

I am certainly not an authority by any means but I have heard from several people that the new tower ladder assignments are now common knowledge among many circles. They just haven’t been announced on any real public forum. I don’t remember all of who is getting what but do remember that Tower 34 is not getting a brand new rig. There are a lot of people who now know and people are talking but for some reason when it comes to releasing it to the public, everyone is acting like it is top secret.

Tower 5 was a stock unit emergency purchase. E92 was an experiment by the commissioner at the time to see if commercial chassis would work for CFD instead of custom.
TL34 was running the spare. E251 I believe.

Why Is tower 5 the only alf ladder in the fleet kind of like e92 is the only alf engine

Not necessarily, they could go to other towers with those rigs being handed down. No one knows until it happens

Tower ladder are Not delivered yet.
They will most likely go to tower 34, an two of the company’s in the 1996 Riggs like 37 is using

Tower 34 is getting tower 14’s rig. Tower 14 is getting one of the new towers.

Have the new 2015 E-One 100 tower ladders been assigned yet? If they have been assigned, where are they at?
That is a bummer that Squad 5 was in an accident, the CFD is really having problems with the squads now.
Completely off topic, where was the warehouse that this past Tuesdays Chicago Fire ammonia leak was shot at?

#14 by 9 man squad on February 10, 2016 - 4:17 PM
Who was in the squad

No injuries to members as far as I know. And as for the rigs, they were at the Still & Box @ 53/Winchester later in the morning, did not appear to have much damage at all.

Was 6-7-6 actually used at the 2-11 yesterday?
#17 by DG on February 10, 2016 - 9:58 AM
Squad 5 did get into an accident at 63/Loomis. And the turret wagon 6-7-6 was specialed in for use at this incident.

Was it minor? Any brothers get injured?
#19 by MABAS 21 on February 10, 2016 - 3:27 AM
Squad 5 was rumored to be involved in a crash at 63rd and Loomis. If it was, hopefully the brothers are ok.

So what was Squad 1 at the fire for as this fire was well into Squad 5’s district?
Was Squad 5 on another run or was Squad 1 special called for the use of it’s Snorkel?

They still have turret wagons, had some put on new chassis last year.
