It’s a sharp unit.
They have 3 engines now since getting rid of their truck. One is a reserve and the other is run for mutual aid calls, from my understanding. I thought I noticed a trailer in the middle bay a few nights ago, which I hadn’t previously seen.
Personally, I think maintaining 3 engines for this dept. is a waste. They should ditch the third (1113) and use the second (1112) as their reserve/mutual aid. If they have to put in the second engine in to service and the first due (if 1111 were down), they just wouldn’t be available for mutual aid. It’s not likely this would happen often.
While on the topic, 1112 should really get a new lighting package on the cab. The original light bar doesn’t extend the whole cab and the strobing isn’t very effective. It’s actually hard to see… always has been. They did get it right on the 1111, which should be duplicated on 1112.
2 cents isn’t worth a lot these days…
