Excellent video, Larry. I liked the shots of the Reserve Snorkel arriving and setting up as well as your other shots of apparatus setting up. The “crack of dawn” shots were also interesting with the smoke and haze in the background. The shots of 676 working were also good.
This fire was the best argument as to why the CFD should have a large turret wagon such as 671. I see no reason why the turrets and piping from 671 can’t be remounted onto a new chassis and body. If there is a problem with the turrets and piping then why not build a new apparatus for 671. Chicago got 36 years of service from 671 (1975/76 Mack MB deluge wagon) and if we could get even 26 years of service from an updated 671 it would be worth it. While it’s true that a new large turret wagon would probably be used only once in a while, when needed it certainly could be quite effective.

Nice video Larry! How long into the fire until the 1st collapse? Any members that were there have any idea what size tips where being used on the turret wagon? At one point looked like 1-3/8″, but later videos I see at least 4-4″ lines going into the rig, which provides far more water than what would be able to be flowed from 2, 500gpm tips.
I got to agree on the 2-1-9 tranmission… stuff like that never happened under the “old” Commish!
Thanks again!

Why was 2-1-9 so upset that requests wern’t going through him, despite the fact that 2-1-3 was in command?
Great video, Larry! Thanks for sharing!
