Oak Forest and Midlothian Fire Department history

This from Mike Summa for #TBT:

For TBT- Two fire departments side by side who have/had the same type of equipment.  Oak Forest Engine 94, a 1971 FWD/Pierce 1250/500 w/54′ Squrt.  Midlothian Engine 2, a 1973 Seagrave 1250/300 w/ 54′ Squrt.  The Oak Forest engine is gone, but Midlothian had Pierce rehab their unit in 1994 with a Pierce Arrow cab and upgrade its engine into 1500/500.  Are there any more Squrts out there?

Midlothian Fire Department history

This from Mike Summa:

TBT-Before the Ford Explorer and Chevy Tahoe there was the IHC Travelall.  Chief buggies, ambulances and rescue squads used this type of vehicle in departments big and small.  Here is a 1960’s IHC used by the Midlothian Fire Dept.

I do not know anything about this fire truck.  I found it on a website called “I grew up in Midlothian.” What I do know is that firemen and kids have not changed.  The dates may change, but firemen are always firemen and kids, well they are always aspiring firemen.  Enjoy and comment.

Found this neat picture on the Midlothian FD facebook page.  A great picture of their department from the 1960’s.  I do think the Ford sitting there is an old Chicago Fire Patrol truck from the 50’s.  Please comment and enjoy.

Hello,
With Midlothian’s rescue truck up for sale, I submit the truck that was replaced by the 1997 Pierce.  It is a late 1960s IHC/Pierce.  If I am wrong, please feel free to share information about it.  Enjoy!

This is Midlothian’s Engine 2793, a 1980 FordC/Pierce 1250/500.  It is one of the only engines puchased on a commercial chassis by Midlothian.  Hope that you enjoy,

Midlothian Fire Department history

This from Mike Summa:

Hello again,
Nowadays, everything on four wheels is Pierce.  When I started collecting pictures, everything was Seagrave.  The following pictures are:
1) a 1947
2) a 1957
3) a 1952
4) a 1973 (rehabbed in the late 1990s)
I’m sorry that I don’t know the specifics concerning these trucks.  I hope you enjoy,
Mike S.
