Northbrook firefighters were called to 1434 Lori-Lyn Lane shortly before 7PM tonight. On arrival, they reported smoke and fire visible at the roof and upgraded the alarm. Units in addition to the Northbrook companies to the scene were Wheeling Engine 42, Glenview Truck 14, and Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Ambulance 52.
After attempting an interior attack, all companies were pulled out of the house when the visible fire overhead increased. Two hand lines and a tower ladder were used and they made quick work of knocking down the flames.
Here are some images from Tim Olk.

This from John Tulipano from the 2nd Alarm fire in Batavia on Wednesday night:
Was fortunate to be in the car picking up from another fire in St Charles when Tri-Com toned out for a possible fire at 1st and Mallory in Batavia. Police reported flames from the 2nd floor window. The Batavia chief arrived and reported a 300X75, foundry-type bldg, well involved. He instructed his first engine to hit it with the deck gun and wanted to know who his first two trucks were. He immediately pulled a 2nd alarm.

Tim Olk went to south for a commercial fire in Chicago Heights this morning at 1131 Arnold Street.
No one was injured when a fire erupted in a glass factory Tuesday morning at 1131 Arnold St., fire officials said.
Chicago Heights Fire Chief James Angell said firefighters were called around 9 a.m. to the Gerresheimer Glass Co. after a furnace broke and molten glass started spewing out like lava. They immediately poured water on the furnace upon arrival. But on the third floor of the furnace, a steam explosion erupted, blowing the molten glass onto the structure and causing a fire, he said.
Firefighters fought the blaze for about 45 minutes before they were able to put it out. Firefighters remained on scene helping plant personnel restart the furnace so the molten glass would not solidify, he said. The plant, which has been at that location since the 1900s, produces primary glass packaging for pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
Angell said they called for reinforcements from area departments due to the weather and the size of the factory. He said Matteson, Park Forest, Glenwood, Homewood, Flossmoor, Sauk Village, Frankfort, Steger and Hazel Crest firefighters were on the scene. Crete, Richton Park, Crete Township, University Park and Richton Park Township fire departments handled calls for Chicago Heights.

More from Steve Redick on the 4-11 Alarm fire from Wednesday night
Sept 11, 3710 S California
Large industrial building, several hundred feet long, mainly loaded with pallets. very difficult access, embankments, trucking yards, fences, grade level differences and poor water supply and many dead end mains. I arrived between the 2 and 3-11 … The original portion of the building was consumed and there werew still some pallets burning … squad 1 and TL54 had been repositioned and it seemed like the incident was winding down … these shots were my initial view of conditions, but I was only looking at a small portion of the complex …
