According to Illinois State Police, two tractor-trailer trucks collided with a bus carrying developmentally disabled passengers Tuesday afternoon on the Dan Ryan Expressway at South 95th Street.
38 special needs adults were on the bus traveling from the Pilsen neighborhood to Robbins, according to Chicago Fire Department Media Affairs Director Larry Langford.
A red semi-truck lost control and ran off the roadway, striking a concrete wall, which caused the truck’s trailer filled with recycled paper to separate and strike the bus, police said.
The Chicago Fire Department activated an EMS Plan 2 for the crash.

This from David Nemecek about the aerials being built for Chicago:
Hello, just sending a link from the SpartanERV website with a few images of the finished aerials for the CFD. Both rigs seem almost completely marked, one for truck 24 and the other for T-47.

Companies had a fire Thursday afternoon in the 5800 block of Michigan. Engine 84 arrived and had fire showing from the 3rd floor. They deck gunned it and lead out a line. Truck 51 and 30 had their mains to the roof. I arrived well after the fire was knocked. Here are some shots.

The Chicago Tribune has a brief article about a bridge worker that fell into a void space that houses a bridge’s counter weights at Randolph Avenue this morning:
A bridge worker was injured this morning after he fell 15 feet as he was working on the Randolph Street bridge on the Chicago River, officials said.
The Chicago Department of Transportation worker fell at about 11:30 a.m., said Chicago Fire Department spokesman Joseph Roccasalva.
The man, 59, fell into a hole on the bank of the river where the bridge’s counter-balance weights are located, allowing it to be raised and lowered, Roccasalva said.
The bridge had been lifted as workers did spring maintenance, said Roccasalva.
The worker suffered multiple injures and was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital at about noon in serious-to-critical condition as a precaution, said Roccasalva. The man’s injuries were not considered life-threatening and his condition was stabilized, he said.
Larry Shapiro arrived on the opposite side of the river as Engine 2 arrived, but after the worker had been rescued. Here are a few images.

Companies were dispatched to a still alarm Friday at 7115 s Sangamon. While enroute, Engine 54 advised the EFAO that they could see the header and they indeed had a fire. E-54 arrived and boxed it. They had heavy fire showing and had the sector 4 exposure going also. Here are some of my shots. The whole gallery is on my site.
And from Dennis McGuire, Jr,
Engine Co. 54 was first in to 7115 S. Sangamon and found fire in a 2 1/2 story frame. They made entry into to the building while Truck Co. 20 did the ventilation and searches. No victims were found but the fire did spread a bit to 7117 S. Sangamon, also a 2 1/2 story frame. Engine Co. 54’s hydrant man did find a frozen hydrant which caused the chief to ask for the Still & Box alarm. Companies made a quick knock of the fire once a positive source of water was established.

here are some pictures from the spartan erv website displaying the chassis and ladder for one of the new aerials for Chicago. Needless to say…its not a tower ladder. What I’m assuming, Spartan calls a rear mount aerial a “rear mount platform.”
