Calumet City Fire Department history

Greeting from sunny, warm Florida. In my travels around I located the remains of an old Calumet City, IL American LaFrance engine on some property near Ruskin, FL. Engine 304 has clearly seen better days. Yes there are 2 trees growing up through it. The owner of the property was from East Troy, WI, and moved several vehicles down here years ago.

The photo of 304 as it used to look is a Bill Friedrich photo.

For TBT-This is a picture of Calumet City Engine 2, a Diamond T/Darley of unknown age.  Sorry, no specs.  Still in service as picture was taken at Blue Island FD 100th anniversary in 1979.  Enjoy and comment.

Mabas Division 24 Snorkel history

Mabas Division 24 at one time or another over the years had the following Snorkels in service, the only one I do not have a photo of is Tinley Park. If anyone has a shot of it feel free to add it in. The Gary rig is the X-South Holland.

Calumet City Fire Department history

The Calumet City Fire Department operated this 1974 Mack pumper. It had a 1250 GPM pump and a 500 gallon tank. It ran for many years as Engine Co. 306  from Fire Station #1. It is the one and only lime green colored apparatus that the department operated.

The Calumet City Fire Department operated this 1965 American LaFrance pumper. It had a 1000 GPM pump and a 758 Gallon tank. It ran as Engine Company 303 for a number of years.

The Calumet City Fire Department operated this 1980 Kenworth/E-1, it had a 1500-GPM pump and a 500-gallon tank. It ran as Engine 303 from Station 2.

Calumet City Fire Department history

The Calumet City Fire Department operated this 1969 Mack / Pierce Snorkel, it ran as Truck 307 replacing the 1937 ALF quad. It was in service until well into the the 90’s. It had a 75′ Snorkel with a 1000 GPM pump. It was quartered  at the public works garage until 1972 when Station 2 was opened.

The Calumet City Fire Department operated this 1937 American La France quad from 3/31/1937 until 1972. It was a Type 475 RDB, 750 GPM  rotary gear pump with an 88-gallon tank. It carried serial # L-860.
