This from Mike Maida:
On Tuesday morning, I happened to see the Elgin Fire Department setting up for what appeared to be a dive rescue drill at the lake behind Sherman Hospital. Photos included show the 2015 E-One, Engine 5, Engine 3, a Seagrave, and Medic 1. Engine 5 has a bell on it that came from their previous rig, a 2001 KME.
Enjoy!

Engine 5’s previous rig was not a 2001 KME. The bell has little significance. I don’t know if this particular bell did in fact come off of the KME that was traded in when the E-One was purchased or if it’s just etched into the bell. The KME this bell refers to was manufactured and delivered in 2002. The previous engine’s used by E-5 was a 2009 KME Severe Service not used by E-4. Before the KME E-5 used a 1996 Seagrave Marauder. Prior to that was a 1988 Seagrave. Also Elgin refers to their Ambulances as an ambulance. Not a medic.
