This from Josh Boyajian;
I stopped by Broadview yesterday to get a picture of their new engine. It is marked Engine 7. Throughout the week, all of their rigs will get remarked identical as the Engine, with the Division 20 logo on the back door and 7 on the front door. Broadview will be all 7s. Here are a couple shots of it inside the firehouse. I’ll have a follow up with some staged shots in the near future.
They also have a new 2013 Ford Explorer for the fire chief.
Thanks Josh
This from Scott Peterson:
Sent to me by a Friend. I have no info other than an E-one and it will be "Engine 7".
And from Tim Olk:

Jim, are you talking about the numbering system for the re-numbering? If so, there were a couple, but they are not being followed any more. Here are the departments that have switched: Bensenville-17 & 18, Schiller Park: 5 & 6, Broadview: 7, Stone Park: 21 & 22, Berkeley: 35, Westchester: 25 & 26(soon to be done). Franklin Park is already 1,2 &3, doubt they will change. Personally, I don’t see the need to change…DuPage/DuComm, sure, they dispatch for 99% of towns. We all don’t have the same dispatch centers, many with their own, but we all use Norcomm when requesting a Box or higher.
If you were referring to the current numbers per department, I would be happy to provide.

It’s about time Broadview !! 216 had a good run time to make her a spare. Nice to finally see you get new equipment .

Sebastian, Glenview and Northfield are not sharing a truck, so to speak. Glenview recently purchased a new Truck 14 and Northfield contributed money towards it’s purchase. In return, Northfield is storing/using the old Truck 14 which I know is not 29 years old! Truck 14R/29 has been on calls in other towns recently as both a Northfield truck and a Glenview truck. The only real use Northfield has for a Truck is to run mutual-aid calls. Interestingly enough, Northfield’s new paint scheme is almost identical to Glenview’s. I think Glenview got the better half of the deal on this one!

Speaking of MABAS 10….Admin, just be advised there’s some updating that could be done. Willow Springs FD is no more, it was absorbed by Tri-State. Tri-State station 4 is no longer, that engine (541) is now at the old Willow Springs station. I realize everybody is busy and has other commitments, but I figured I’d give a bit of a reminder!

thanks … the list of additions and changes is very long … just need to find the time to work on it

Glenview and northfield fire departments sharing truck 14!! also using a rig thats also 29 yeArs old is kind of dangerous in regards to the safety of the fire fighters! Yea it may be useful for its current needs! But the tax payers aren’t who the firemen are going home to at the end of their shift!! Just sayin! Its like the city of chicago who is still using 25 year old rigs as their reserve!! I get it that times are tough! But come on people put their lives at steak everyday for us! The least we can do is provide them with equipment!

I ask this question from time to time regarding trucks.
We’re seeing more departments (think MABAS 10) not having a truck and relying on mutual aid when they need it. How is it fair for town A to bear the cost of a truck to be used on mutual aid calls in town b?
There’s no question of what mutual aid means, I’m just not sure it’s a fair handshake to tax payers in town A to bear a greater burden of the truck cost.
I forget what departments in the norther suburbs have shared the cost of of a truck. While it might seem awkward to us, this seems to be more equitable to the tax payers.

Why, the dont have the manning to use it and the one they have works fine for its uses. Which is mostly out of town. What town has money to spend solely for a mutual truck?

So are they ever going to get a new truck??

The ALF is actually being kept at Berkeley FD. Haven’t heard that it is sold, just being stored there.

Replacing their 1982 ALF Century Engine which has been sold already and is gone.

Is this a addition to the fleet or a replacement of a engine
