From pierce mfg FB:
St. Charles Fire Department’s #Velocity 100’ #AerialLadder will be attending to approximately 2,000 calls a year in the Chicago suburbs. The heavy-duty aluminum ladder was a fit for the department due to its short jack spread and heavy weight carrying capacity. Their response area consists of about 50,000 people over 13 square miles. The black over red color scheme was chosen to honor fallen firefighters. #StCharlesILOverall height: 12’ 2”Overall length: 43’ 0.5”Pump: Pierce #PUC, 1500-gpmTank: 500-gallonJob Number: 36407

Within a few years of having the truck, the torque box showed significant corrosion.
There have been suspension issues (front and rear axles).
Electrical issues
A lot of money has been poured into this truck over the years. Truth be told, I really felt the Seagrave’s held up better. I know St. Charles wasn’t happy about parts availability with Seagrave which was one of the reasons they switched to Pierce. I’d like to hope Seagrave has improved their parts availability.

It turned out nice. Hopefully it won’t have as many issues as the Arrow XT.
What are some of the issues the Arrow XT has had?

considering the old ladder being 12 years old it will be a good spare

I hope this one is more reliable than the 2009 Arrow XT that St. Charles has….

Looks absolutely amazing. I’ll be back in STC in 2 weeks, hopefully I can see it in person.
