Firefighters responded to 132 S. Harris Dr. in Rockdale before 4 p.m. on Friday for a fire. The building houses Polar Service Center, a commercial parts and repair and facility. More than 100 semis were on the property at the time, many of them catching fire.

When Rockdale ~~first responders~~ police officers and firefighters arrived on scene, a portion of the building was already engulfed in flames, and they entered the building and rescued those still inside.

The official cause of the fire hasn’t been determined, but authorities said a semi parked near the building caught fire and eventually the flames spread to the building.

Westmont Fire Department news

Village of Westmont took delivery of a 2022 Pierce Impel pumper a couple months ago. It carries job #36386, has a 1500-GPM pump, and a 500-GWT.

Westmont also just took delivery of a brand new command van from LDV on a Freightliner chassis. It replaces a 1997 Chevrolet LDV command van.

There is also a new ambulance on order thru Foster Coach Sales. It will be a Ford Type 1 Horton. In addition to that, there is a 2022 Pierce Velocity 100’ mid-mount Ascendant tower ladder on order.

Squad 183, the 2004 E-One Saulsbury is out getting a full rehab and will be repainted to match the new black over red color scheme.
