Excerpts from the DailyHerald.com:
No injuries were reported from a fire that began shortly after 10 p.m. in the cooking ventilation system and rooftop exhaust fans of Hugo’s Frog Bar in the Rivers Casino. The fire appears to have been sparked when grease that had accumulated in the hood and duct system ignited. The Des Plaines Fire Department reported the fire under control and extinguished just after 11 p.m. Fire damage was isolated to the kitchen hood and duct and a portion of the roof, and there was slight water damage elsewhere.
One of the evacuated patrons requested medical assistance and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital with a nonlife-threatening issue.
While the casino reopened early Monday, Hugo’s remained closed.
Under the state’s COVID-19 rules, casinos can maintain normal operating hours, which for Rivers Casino means they are open 24 hours a day, but are only allowed 50% of total capacity.

From Skokie Fire Department Firefighter’s Local 3033 Facebook:
We are officially saying goodbye to our 1993 Luverne Squad/Pumper. This rig has valiantly served us for many years “Squad 18” and as our reserve squad apparatus for when our frontline goes in for routine maintenance. A big thank you from all of us for being so reliable for so many years.
And from the archives of Larry Shapiro – Skokie Squad 18 when it first arrived in Skokie.
thanks Danny
