This from Larry Shapiro:
Referring back to yesterday’s American LaFrance history, this is an example of an American LaFrance Pioneer series engine from Lake Forest. The Glenbrook Rural Fire Protection District who became the Glenbrook Fire Protection District had three Pioneer engines.

There were a few of them around. Tri-State FPD had one, Lockport Twp FPD had one. I know I’m missing others.

I have a small book about the history of ALF. can’t find it to save my life but it’s around somewhere. It includes a section about the PIONEER series. Not a bad idea where it was a lower cost custom so you didn’t have to resort to a commercial chassis.

Glenwood, IL had a Pioneer. I want to say it was a 1967, 750/300. I can be wrong with any of that information.
