As large as O’Hare is and despite continuing to add onto or replace fire stations on the field (currently four), there are several US airports that have more stations. The largest that I know of is the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport which currently has six stations. Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta has five stations that are run by the Atlanta Fire Department, and Denver International Airport, the largest in the country in terms of size, has five stations. It is not uncommon for airports to have more than one station in order to keep all of the runways covered within a one to three minute response time which is required by the FAA. Those three airports also have the largest fire departments.

with much equipment moved to the enlarged station 1 in the past few months, can anyone tell me what is still in Ohare rescue station 3?

Does Engine 9 and 10 have a still district off the Airport?

Nice modern looking station. Just speculation, but it may be run like Midway’s house with the ARFF apparatus responding out of the front bays and Engine 10 and Ambulance 16 responding from the rear bays.

Chris, the house has 8 bays in back to back config

Looks nice from the outside but if 6 rigs are here then only 4 bays is just stupid planning, not like they were land-locked

This is the design of most bunkrooms in the city firehouses. I’m sure there are separate rooms for the officers and females.

I had the following units at Rescue 2: E10, Amb 16, Command Van 2-7-3, Portable Stairway 6-3-5, ARFF 6-5-4, & ARFF 6-5-6. But according to the picture not everything is there. So what units are actually where at O’Hare and Midway Airport please. Thanks in advance.

Perhaps they can just buy cubicle type walls later on.
That way they can infinitely adjustable.

Yeah kind of surprising that’s all they got for a bunk room.

Interesting they have a big bunk room most stations have privacy walls in between the bunks.

What companies are assigned there? I see Engine 10 Ambulance 16, but I can’t make out the crash rig?

those doors looks tiny for an engine and crash rigs to get into but glad they build a new house
